SYNOPSIS

The years of brutal war in name of God have stripped Behmen (Nicolas Cage) of all taste for bloodshed and his loyalty to the Church . Looking forward to a quiet retirement, Behmen and his comrade in arms Felson (Ron Perlman) remain totally astonished to find a desert country, not knowing that Europe has been decimated by the bubonic plague.

While searching for food and supplies in Marburg Palace, the two men are arrested and called before the local Cardinal ( Christopher Lee) to explain his return from unscheduled East. Cardinal dying threatened with imprisonment for desertion, unless they agree to carry out a dangerous mission. In the dungeon of Cardinal found a young woman (Claire Foy ) accused of being a witch who brings plague. May only be redeemed if they decide to accompany the girl to an abbey where he will be judged far.

The brutal mistreatment of the young woman underwent in prison and the impotence of her allegations against officials of the Church Behman touches. Convinced that she is just a convenient scapegoat and fearing to be condemned without a fair trial, decided to escort the treacherous journey.

Besides his trusty sidekick Felson, will be accompanied by a traveling con man who knows the region very well ( Stephen Graham), an eager young man who aspires to be knighted ( Robert Sheehan), a gentleman bitter who has lost his entire family in the hands of African ( Ulrich Thomsen) and a naive priest (Stephen Campbell Moore ).

The route is long and arduous, and even more difficult by the increasingly disturbing series of events that leads the group through uncharted territory, through deep gorges and rugged forest full of wolves . One by one, his fellow travelers run into bad luck, and the beleaguered cross next to its most terrifying adversary.

CRITICAL

We all know the economic crisis that has gripped the actor Nicolas Cage , Which has forced him to work the piece, which is why a few years has premiered several titles per year, although the sign to all the shootings, which may not mean the final result is better (This also influences tendency for overacting actor's own) If only a week ago came to the American Billboard Blind Rage 3D (3D Angry Drive) already holds the record for being the 3-D movie box office with a worse start, now reaches English billboards -time witch, released just a couple of months in USA with a poor outcome (although not as catastrophic as that of the aforementioned Blind Fury) and a critical not very flattering.

If we are just this film continues to be a B-movie style as it does today. What I remembered in style is a English series Red Eagle, but not for any resemblance between the two works, but by the content mix and diverse elements (more or less successful, more or less anachronistic) in a context medieval history. As always when it comes to titles without great ambitions (which is what we find here) valuation is influenced by the level of entertainment that brings us the story, and there if I have to say that with their pros and cons (no highlights nor script or by special effects or action like that), the film is perfectly visible without causing any harm to the viewer, as there are other films far worse than this. So if you must take into account that is a minor title in the filmography of the actor, although his performance is more subdued than expected, without falling into the histrionics to which is so friendly.

may surprise at first the choice of Dominic Sena as director of this film, given a history which has more contemporary titles like Swordfish (or more "modernillos" type Kalifornia ). Recall that director and actor and agreed a decade ago in the discrete 60 seconds, thus taking into account the level that came loose that title must surely recognize that surpasses it, not to grow, but at least entertainment. Anyway thematic potpourri that engages (historical, action, adventure, horror, fantasy ,...) is likely to have had a better resolution in the hands of another director (and another actor? Well, as if) but within the eyesores that they tend to brand each year this is just one more title, for me entertained and certainly not as scary as they say around. In addition, we will always have the detail cinephile together and Ghost Rider Hellboy, or more exactly to the actors who have incarnated on screen ( Nicolas Cage in the first case and Ron Perlman in the second).

BEST: produce is allowed to see without embarrassment (despite the histrionics that have sometimes fallen protagonist.)

WORST: A series B as entertaining as easily forgettable.
